Woman Crossing Busy Roadway Struck, Killed By Car In Plainview

An 80-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while she was crossing Old Country Road in Plainview, Nassau County Police said.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m.on Thursday, July 11.

According to detectives, the woman was hit by a 2017 Hyundai, which was traveling westbound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nassau County AMT.

The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old male, remained at the scene and was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
